The #15 Arizona State Sun Devils (0-0) will visit the Texas A&M Aggies (0-0) on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game will televise at 7 pm ET on ESPN. The current odds list Texas as a 3.5-point favorite with the over/under set at 69.
Arizona State will have 17 starters returning this season and will begin the year ranked at #15. Senior Mike Bercovici will get the starting role as quarterback after playing the backup last year. He knows the Sun Devils system inside and out and the head coach feels very confident he will be successful. DJ Foster will most likely be his top target after posting 125 catches over the last two seasons and he ran for over 1,000 yards in 2014. They also will have three starters returning on defense. The Sun Devils are 1-6 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games.
Sophomore Kyle Allen will take the snaps this year for the Aggies. The Aggies will have an explosive offense as they are ranked 12th in passing. Allen will have several solid targets to aim for. Josh Reynolds had 842 yards and 13 touchdowns last season while Ricky Seals-Jones had 465 yards and 4 touchdowns. Speedy Noil also had 46 receptions and five touchdowns. The Aggies still lack a solid running game and with the addition of John Chavis as defense coordinator, they are hoping to bring in a better defense. The Aggies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games in September.
My Prediction: Aggies -3.5
This should be a high scoring game and I am going with the better offense. I think the over is also a good option in this game. Both teams will be airing the ball out and it wouldn’t surprise me if they scored 50 points in the first half. I think the Aggies are a bit better and I think they win this game by a touchdown.
